Lots of new snow for the Steamboat race with high humidity and warmish temps.  Fluorocarbons are going to be the fastest out there.  Our recommendation basically follows the Swix recommendation: Start with some colder layers in the ski and work up to warmer wax with pure fluoro powder on top.

The race start has been delayed until 8:30AM, so it will be a bit warmer than originally anticipated at the start.  There is a good possibility that there will be a lot of fresh snow that has fallen in relatively warm temps and that will be warming toward freezing as it falls Saturday.  High humidity and fresh snow dictate high fluor waxes.  We recommend hardening the bases with a layer or two of colder LF wax and then going HF and pure fluor on top.  This will keep the early cold snow from getting into the base, but provide speed as the race goes on.

Swix:  Harden up the bases with LF6 two layers.  HF7 one layer, FC7 or FC8.  My guess is that FC8 will be better in the 2nd half of the race, FC7 in the first half.  If I were waxing one pair of skis, I would probably go with FC8.

Toko:  Harden up the bases with LF Moly 1 layer, then LF Blue 1 Layer.  HF Red mixed with a small dab of HF Blue for the final base layer.  Finish with Jetstream Moly on top.

Structure: Our Z40XL, LL26 and ZR1XL should work well as will Q1.3, especially toward the end of the race.  Add a 0.5 or 0.75millimeter rill to a ski that has fine structure.
